The Man Underneath

CannaBusTeD — Ted at the wheel

John lived the life.

TeD is what came out the other side.

After years lost in chemical abuse, confusion and survival, John began rebuilding himself through creativity: music, writing, images, comedy, performance, and whatever strange little door opened next. He is a father, a grandfather, a writer, a musician, a storyteller, and one man trying to make sense of the noise by turning it into something that can sing back.

TeD is the mask, but not a false one. He is the entertainer, the blind bus driver, the personification of the loneliness, pain, humour, memory and absurdity that John carried through his life. He built himself a battered old bus and started driving around the World Wide Web, looking for wonderful worlds to visit, only to discover he had started building them himself.

CannaBusTeD is where those worlds meet.

The songs, books, images, websites and characters are not separate tricks. They are different expressions of the same thread. Sometimes that thread becomes a song. Sometimes it becomes a story. Sometimes it becomes a joke, a picture, a cracked mask, a stage, a bus, a theatre, or a voice in the dark trying to find its way into the light.

My Fake Love is part of that thread. It is not just about singing. It is about the moment an idea becomes breath, the breath becomes voice, the voice becomes song, and the song tries to say what the soul could not say plainly.

John is the man underneath it all.
TeD is how he learned to speak.
